The "Centre of In Vitro Fertilization and Embryo Transfer SA" (hereinafter,CIVTE clinic) was founded in 1985 and is today, alongside with Dexeus Institute in Barcelona, the oldest and most prestigious clinic Spain, being therefore the pioneer in reproductive techniques in Andalusia. This year, CIVTE celebrates its 25th anniversary, a milestone for medicine Andalusia. CIVTE is a full member of the Spanish Society of Fertility, of the Spanish Association of Reproductive Biology, and of the European Society of Reproductive Medicine.
Our history
None of this would have been possible without the charisma and energy of our founder, Dr. Eduardo Garcia-Otero Gonzalez. He began this project together with leading German specialists in the field, previously training partners, infusing spirit of innovation and constant improvement that currently characterizes our centre. It should be noted that Dr. Garcia-Otero Gonzalez was a pioneer in his training group in Hannover (Germany), studying cryopreservation of sperm and also a pioneer in Spain dealing with the techniques of laparoscopic and vaginal surgery, such as urinary incontinence, prolapse , enteroceles, cystocele, hysterectomies, etc.. As regards reproduction techniques, Dr. Garcia-Otero González pioneered the implementation of the first treatments which were carried out in Spain to treat female infertility by means of tubal insufflation and hormones. Finally, in acknowledgement of the work carried out throughout his career, Dr. Garcia-Otero González was appointed unanimously as Honorary Member of the Hispano-German Society of Gynecology and Obstetrics and special mention of the German Society of Gynecology and Obstetrics (DGGG). Therefore, the greatest legacy from Dr. García-González Otero to the CIVTE team was the ongoing interest in encouraging innovation in the field of gynecology, specially in the field of human reproduction, as well as his unquestionable human quality. All of these still inspire team members of CIVTE. |
